Batavia, Ohio. If singing around a campfire, roasting marshmallows, and spending the night in a tent under the stars with your family sounds like fun, check out the Clermont County Park District Friday Night Family Campout set for Friday, September 30, 2011. The campout will be held from 6 p.m. on September 30 until 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the 39-acre Chilo Lock #34 Park, located along US52, in the village of Chilo. “This is fun for the whole family, from little kids to grandparents,” said Clermont Parks’ Chief Naturalist Keith Robinson.
Local entertainer Steve Featherston will lead the group singing campfire songs, and a guided night hike is planned at the Crooked Run Nature Preserve. “We’ll try to lure in owls by playing their calls search for other nocturnal creatures that live in the park,” said Robinson. After a light breakfast on Saturday, the campout will conclude.
Reservations are needed for the Friday Night Family Campout; there is a $20 charge per family. “The campout is limited to around 40 people, so we recommend signing up early,” said Robinson. To register, send an email to krobinson@clermontcountyohio.gov or call 876-9013. The deadline to register is Monday, September 26, 2011.
