Pattison Gazebo Gets an Updated Look
The Clermont County Park District recently completed a renovation of the landscaping surrounding the Pattison Park gazebo. The gazebo is a very popular place for outdoor weddings. In 2008, over 150 weddings were held at the gazebo, and the nearby lodge.
"The gazebo is a beautiful place for an outdoor wedding, but it was in need of some upgrading", said Park District director Chris Clingman. "The landscaping was originally put in over 15 years ago, so we were starting to see some shrubs getting overgrown. In addition, the summer droughts we have experienced the last two years have damaged some of the plants" said Clingman. "It was time for a renovated look."
"We wanted to keep the same color scheme which is popular with many of the brides who choose this as the setting for their wedding", said Clingman. New guinea impatiens were chosen to add color to the outdoor setting. In addition to the impatiens, purple coneflower and cat mint were selected for their flower color. The landscaping also includes ornamental grasses such as carex evergold and heavy metal grass. Velvet boxwood shrubs, an evergreen, will add color even during the winter months.
